Mrs. Alice James, 81 sister of Mrs. Eva Thompson and Mrs. Bina Hiday of Crawfordsville died Friday afternoon at 5 o'clock at her home in Indianapolis. Death was attributed to carcinoma. Mrs. James was b. May 9, 1867 near New Market and was the daughter of Samuel Miles & Mary Layne. In 1884 she was married to Samuel James, former Indianapolis city fireman, who preceded her in death about six years ago. She was a a member of the 7th Day Adventist church in Indianapolis. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Mary Burgan of Indianapolis; two sisters, Mrs. Bina Hiday and Mrs. Eva Thompson both of Crawfordsville; a brother George Layne of Indianapolis and two grandch. Funeral services will be held Sun afternoon at 3 o'clock from the Shirley brothers Funeral Home 946 N. Illinois St, Indianapolis; Burial in Crown Hill Monday morning at 10. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 o'clocdk Saturday afternoon. - kbz
